Weather Tools for Activities, Events, and Operators

The public rankings show where the weather is best. These newer tools apply the same idea to specific outdoor decisions: when courts reopen, when an event has the best weather window, or how a platform can use weather data.

Why This Map Is Different

Most weather sites show forecasts. Just Right Weather turns weather into decisions.

NWS Forecast Data

Every day we pull National Weather Service forecast data at 2.5km grid resolution across the entire contiguous U.S.

Six Variables Scored

Temperature, dewpoint, cloud cover, wind speed, and precipitation probability are each classified and weighted.

1–10 PWI Score

Each city receives a single daily Perfect Weather Index score. 10 is near-ideal. Lower scores reflect heat, cold, storms, or humidity.

Compare Anywhere

Because every city is scored the same way, you can compare San Diego to Chicago to Miami on the same scale - instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is "perfect weather"?
For this site, perfect weather generally means comfortable temperatures (around the low 70s °F), sunshine, light winds, and low-to-moderate humidity. The Perfect Weather Index summarizes those factors into a single 1–10 score.
How do you choose the top cities and states?
Cities get a raw score based on the forecast at their location, plus a population-aware adjustment so the top 10 isn't dominated by tiny towns. States are ranked by average score across the forecast grid.
My perfect weather preference differs from yours.
That's fair - weather preference is personal. Try the Find Your Perfect Weather tool to set your own temperature range, humidity tolerance, and rain preference.
Are there limitations I should know about?
Yes. Forecasts and comfort can vary within a metro area due to elevation and microclimates. This index is best used as a high-level guide for comparing regions - then zoom in on local details.
